Mapistry launches mobile app enhancement to increase inspection and task speed for field workers

Prioritizing ease of use for frontline staff

Operations and maintenance staff don’t have desk jobs—they’re onsite actively operating machinery, fixing equipment, and keeping things running smoothly. However, they often bear the brunt of routine environmental compliance requirements on top of their production and operations jobs. For Mapistry to make environmental compliance truly easy for industrial teams, Mapistry’s digital inspection forms and corrective action tracking had to be available on mobile devices and work offline, as many industrial facilities don’t have reliable internet or cellular data connectivity. Mapistry users have been completing inspections and corrective actions in the field with the mobile app for many years now. As one operations user at a cement plant recently said, “Our forms are on the calendar and we love it. It's super clear if something's missed, or if it needs to be done. It definitely helps us out.” Some teams have also found mobile apps more user-friendly. One EHS manager said, “logging into a desktop computer and touching a keyboard are barriers. Operations staff all have smartphones. If you give them an ipad they’re a lot more comfortable with it.”

To further improve Mapistry’s mobile app, we prioritized navigational improvements to streamline how information is organized so that it is even easier for operations, maintenance, and EHS teams to find and complete their tasks and inspections. This improvement paves the way for further additions to the mobile app coming soon: integrating the Environmental Data Platform into the mobile app for field data collection of numerical data, such as flow rates, baghouse pressure readings, and materials usage.
