Maureen Gorsen, a Partner with Sidley, joined us on Coffee & Compliance dove into the key areas for industrial operations from the IRA as we discussed the provisions and funding on environmental enforcement, data access, monitoring, and environmental justice. Maureen is the former director of the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) and the former general counsel of the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) and the California Natural Resources Agency. From her vantage point in private practice, she shared the items on the top of the list for industrial companies around tax breaks related to environmental related capital investments and the risks associated with funding for Environmental Justice and skyrocketing data collection and public data availability.
