Project Manager/Environmental Engineer

We are seeking to add a project manager or environmental engineer/scientist with 5+ years of experience to our Environmental Services Team. As a member of the Environmental Services Team, you’ll work with your fellow team members to craft simple yet effective compliance programs for enterprise-level Environmental Managers. As part of the Environmental Services Team, you should enjoy operating in a collaborative and dynamic environment while being able to manage projects and priorities. To be successful, you should be really excited about software and technology, because we leverage our proprietary software to execute projects. In addition, Mapistry relies on the Environmental Services team heavily to improve and build new products. Your primary goal will be to assist industrial facilities across the U.S. in complying with the extensive set of environmental regulations related to stormwater, hazardous materials, and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC). Your solutions both on projects and in our software will directly impact the environment by making it easier and more affordable for industrial facilities to comply with regulations.

Requirements for this position include:

  • B.S. in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance regulations in stormwater, hazardous materials, air, wastewater and/or SPCC
  • Excellent technical writing ability
  • Ability to analyze and manipulate data
  • Clear communication skills
  • Project Management experience

It would be even better if you also had the following:

  • Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field
  • PE or EIT license
  • CHMM certification

As a member of the Mapistry team, you will have a diverse set of daily tasks that will likely include:

  • Regularly communicate with clients through site visits, phone conversations, and emails
  • Travel to client sites to conduct site audits, understand their issues, and offer solutions
  • Manage client projects
  • Write and review technical reports, memos, and other plans related to compliance programs
  • Collaborate with other professionals on the Services Team to brainstorm creative solutions
  • Lead investigations and analyze data to solve complex environmental problems
  • Work with customers and the Customer Support Team at Mapistry to answer environmental compliance questions
  • Educate customers on best practices and the latest regulatory trends/updates
  • Provide subject matter expertise to the software development team to design and build more comprehensive and automated solutions to environmental problems

Some of the projects you might work on:

  • X-Ray Fluorescence investigation into zinc exceedances in industrial stormwater, including sampling data analysis, engineering designs, and writing technical memos
  • Stormwater treatment system conceptual design, treatability study, and analysis of historical results to provide ongoing recommendations
  • Manage the field data collection of hazardous materials inventories, assess existing compliance programs, and recommend future changes to maintain program compliance while utilizing Mapistry’s proprietary mapping and inventory software
  • Development of an easy-to-use SPCC plan builder (e.g. TurboTax like interface) or Contingency Plan builder to capture the essential regulatory requirements and reduce the time spent writing reports
